“Absorbs what she sees”

Kumary Chiquinquira B.S.F,MSc.F, an interdisciplinary female artist. Her art is aligned with ancestral roots and the streets where she lives which she comes to know intimately through her conversations with shopkeepers, mentors, and leaders. She uses knowledge of socio-demographic economics and forest trade to create a collection of forest products, and map walking routes of essential items in several cities including Granada (Spain), Valencia (Spain) and Toronto (Canada).

K. Chiquinquira has studied coffee regions in the Northern Andes and South India and was a recipient of Social Sciences Humanities Research Council masters graduate funding. She has received numerous awards to study Spanish irrigation urban communities, international watershed management and Amazon forest research in forest communities. She also performs and studies various urban arts including Salsa, Shaolin Kung Fu, Maracatu de baque virado, and street dance. She is part of a community of well known urban street dancers, artists, and cultural explorers in Dundas West, Toronto, Canada. Her work focuses on matrilineal societies and urban exploration.
